Serious Neck Injury Claim

A serious problem

Neck injuries can vary in nature and severity, ranging from light tears in the soft tissue to heavy damage to the nerves and spinal cord. At the most severe end of the scale, neck injuries can cause spinal damage leading to Tetraplegia or Paraplegia (partial or full paralysis).

Thinking of the future

When serious enough these injuries can require specialist therapy or rehabilitative treatment that the NHS does not offer, and the long time spent waiting for specific treatments can be taxing on both your mental health and your wallet. Apart from the physical pain and mental anxiety sustained from serious neck injury, you may also be agonising over your financial situation now that you’re unable to work, and wondering how this will affect your future career.

We understand the pressure that all these factors may put you through. Our specialist solicitors can help to process your claim in a prompt manner, getting you the help that you need as soon as possible.

The types of injury

An injury to the neck is often not restricted to a single site, instead consisting of some combination of soft tissue, spinal and nervous injury. As a result knowing the symptoms may mean the difference between a full recovery and paralysis.

Most accidental neck injuries are comprised of one or more of the following:

  • Neck strains - These are injuries to the top of the muscles that are attached to and move the top of the spinal cord. Symptoms include muscle spasms, limited flexibility and pain.
  • Neck sprains - Sprains affect the ligaments that hold bones together, and can be caused by sudden movement that hyperextends one or more joints in the cervical spine. Symptoms include a delayed onset of pain in the neck, stiffness and numbness.
  • Whiplash - A common outcome of car accidents, whiplash is caused by a violent movement throwing the head back and forth rapidly, in most cases beyond the neck’s normal range of motion. Symptoms include pain, weakness, numbness or tingling sensations down one arm. Stiffness, dizziness, or disturbed sleep may result.
  • Herniated disc - A herniated disc happens when the jelly-like substance inside a disc escapes and lands on a nerve root. Although this can happen throughout the spine, in this case it will affect the shock-absorbing discs in the vertebrae near the neck. Symptoms include weakness, numbness, a burning sensation or a feeling of electrical shock going down one arm.
  • Neck fracture - A neck fracture is when a break occurs in the cervical bone from a fall or accident. Severe cases are often accompanied by a dislocation. Symptoms include radiating pain, decreased feeling in other limbs and tenderness.
  • Cervical dislocation - This occurs when a neck bone moves out of its normal position, often accompanied by ligament injury as supporting tissues are displaced. In cases of accidental trauma, neck fractures may also occur. Symptoms include radiating pain, decreased feeling in other limbs and tenderness
  • Spinal cord injury - This occurs when a fracture, dislocation, or other neck injury damages the spinal cord. Serious spinal cord injury may result in lifelong disability, with complete or partial paralysis below the neck. Symptoms include a feeling of tingling in the extremities of the body, loss of bladder control and problems walking.

Specialist neck injury claims solicitors

At CCH & Co., we are experienced in handling severe injury claims on behalf of our clients, including serious neck injuries. We are proud of the fact that our firm only employs qualified solicitors, unlike some of our larger competitors who leave your cases to less qualified ‘claims handlers’.

You stand to benefit in several ways when you file your claim as soon as possible, notably in obtaining an interim payment in the event that you need modifications to your home following the injury. If your current home cannot be adapted to accommodate your condition, we can also help with financing your move to a new residence.

One of our solicitors will take on your case from beginning to end, from the first free consultation right until you receive your settlement. We do prefer to meet all of our clients, and will discuss the case with you at your home if possible. Our free initial consultation lets us find out everything about your accident, while also giving you the opportunity to meet us and make sure that we are the right choice to represent you.

We can’t emphasise enough how important it is to choose the right solicitor and file your claim as soon as possible, in order to take your mind off other matters and focus on your recovery. Call us for your free consultation today!
